Take a moment to think about all the Lord has done for you in Jesus Christ.
The mystery is profound. Sometimes, I find the love of Christ difficult to wrap my mind around. How in the world could He love a broken person like me, so much that He would absorb all my sins--as well as the sins of all people?
Considering the love of Christ and His sacrifice should fill us with humble amazement and produce much thanksgiving! Christ was the only perfect one who could bridge the gap between us and the Father...and He did so, willingly.
What is our response to the benefits of the Lord? Psalm 116 gives us three thoughts:
17 I will offer to you the sacrifice of thanksgiving
and call on the name of the Lord.
18 I will pay my vows to the Lord
in the presence of all his people,
19 in the courts of the house of the Lord,
in your midst, O Jerusalem.
Praise the Lord!
We can thank God for all He has done, and for who He is. We can call upon His name daily, remembering our utter dependence on His strength and salvation. And we can walk as living sacrifices in a broken world, taking up our crosses daily and following Him in humble obedience.
How will you respond to the Lord's benefits today?
