Sometimes, we need the reminder that today is not "it".
Today can seem very important through our limited perspective. Don't get me wrong--today is important because God purposed you to live for His glory today. But today is nothing compared to the final victory we will have in Christ someday! We need that reality check.
True, at times it may seem so far away. Life can be messy. Life can also be beautiful beyond words. It can be easy to become wrapped up so intensely in the "here-and-now" that we lose sight of the "not yet".
The truth about the "not yet" is that victory over sin and death will come to its completion at the day of Jesus Christ! Nothing on earth will match it: no worldly low will overcome it, and no earthly high will trump it.
Death itself will be swallowed up by victory! Doesn't that make you want to sing? 1 Corinthians 15:57 says, "But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."
So what? What's our part in the here-and-now? "Therefore...be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain" (v.58). The work that God is doing through you is not without its effect, both in the here-and-now and in the victory that is to come!
May this motivate us, sisters, to live faithfully for His glory and stand firmly in His grace and truth today. You are victorious in Christ!
