Why God Disciplines Us

What are you going through today?

Let's face it. Each day has enough trouble of its own because this world is full of imperfections. Each moment, we grow increasingly aware that this is not our home. What is going on in your life that is proof of fleshly weaknesses and imperfections? It could be sickness, the loss of a loved one, relational struggles, or other equally difficult circumstances.

The reality is that each imperfection points to a deeper sickness within us. A grave sickness that desperately needs the healing touch of our Savior Jesus Christ.

In Hebrews 12:10, we see the answer to why we must endure difficult circumstances and withstand trials here on earth:

"For [earthly fathers] disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but [God] disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness."

God means to heal us through and through of our sin-sickness, the deepest form of affliction one could ever suffer. A sickness that forever can separate a person from God. Yet, Jesus Christ humbled Himself, enduring the cross so that our sin-sickness could forever be healed. This is good news!

So, what are you going through today? Indeed, God may be disciplining you, but for a far deeper purpose than just "teaching you a lesson". He wants to you to share His holiness. He wants to completely heal your sin-sickness. This process will continue day by day, until He brings it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.

This is good news! Let us say "Yes" to sharing in His holiness today, whatever we may be enduring.
