Everything God created is good, and to be received with thanks. Nothing is to be sneered at and thrown out. God’s Word and our prayers make every item in creation holy. 1 Timothy 4:4-5 (MSG)
We were driving back from visiting the oncologist when Xylon said to me, “I have a pretty good life. Except for the cancer stuff I can’t complain.”
I smiled at my husband, and I nodded my head, because I understood what he was saying.
Our lives aren’t perfect but God’s blessings are evident everywhere I look.
God’s goodness outweighs the bad things.
I see God’s hand in my house that feels like a home to me. This house that gives me more than shelter, it offers me a safe place to rest.
God’s thumbprint is on the leaves of the trees I see from my windown, the limbs where birds come and sing their songs of praise.
If I care to look each morning and night God paints a new masterpiece to fill my soul with gratitude. (Tweet this)
Xylon and I are surrounded by people who love us, who share their lives and hearts with us, and help carry our burdens before we collapse.
It is easy to forget that I am blessed all the time and that God is present in the good and the bad times.
I sometimes need to be reminded that everything God has created is good and to be received with thanks.
When I realise that God’s blessings are not (necessarily) dependent on the situations we find ourselves in, it’s easier to find God’s presence in hard things.
Ponder: What can you thank God for today?
Prayer: Lord, open my eyes to see the good things you are surrounding me with.
