4 Prayers for Help When You Need it Most

If you are in a low moment today then the solution is to connect with God, to remind yourself of His provision, protection, and love. Sometimes we need to pray, sometimes we need to read Scripture. Whatever the case, God has the help for when we need it most.

Ecclesiastes 3 opens with an important lesson, “There is an occasion for everything, and a time for every activity under heaven” (Ecclesiastes 3:1). There will be seasons of life where we walk high among the mountains, and seasons where we crawl low in the valleys. What remains consistent through the good and bad moments of life is God.

His character never changes, Nor his power, nor His presence (Hebrews 13:8).

Sometimes we as believers tend to feel closer and more intimate with God during the low seasons. The distractions of the high season are absent, and our need for God is quite clear. Conversely, some of us feel closer to God during the good moments of life, but utterly abandoned when faced with suffering.

Whatever scenario describes us, the Bible encourages us to pray always, whether we are doing well or poorly (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18). Praying always keeps us connected in relationship to God. While this is the goal, sometimes moving from isolation to connection with God can feel impossible. However, this feeling is not the truth. We can do all things through Christ (Philippians 4:13).

If you are in a low moment today then the solution is to connect with God, to remind yourself of His provision, protection, and love. Sometimes we need to pray, sometimes we need to read Scripture. Whatever the case, God has the help for when we need it most.

4 Prayers for Help When You Need It Most

1. A Prayer For Healing

Our Father in Heaven,

We know you by many names and many titles. One such example is that you are a healer. Lord, I want to pray for healing on behalf of myself and the community. There are those suffering from physical disease, while others are troubled by mental disorders. Where you desire healing for us, I pray that you would bring such into our lives. Help us to act, eat, and behave in a way that will help facilitate the healing. I ask that you would restore our bodies, and minds, and that with each miracle your name would be glorified.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

2. A Prayer For Guidance

Father,

I want to pray for myself and others like me who are either lost or confused. I want to pray for those who are in need of guidance, for those of us making major decisions. Who to marry? Where to go to school? Whether or not we should become missionaries. I ask that you speak to us, through your word, other believers. Reveal your will to us. Assuage our confusion, even our despair.

Help us to see the path laid out and to walk in your name. Amen.

3. A Prayer For Restoration

God,

I have been troubled by the amount of things I have lost recently in life. Relationships, money, stability. I want to ask why. I want to know why such troubles could befall me when I try so desperately to live as you desire. Help me to see beyond my own suffering. Remind me of your care, your provision, and of your deliverance. God, despite what my heart says, you have not forsaken me. So I ask that when you are ready, that what has been taken away be restored.

Amen.

4. A Prayer For Peace

My Lord,

This is a prayer for peace, a prayer asking you to quiet my weary soul. Thoughts nag my brain. Anxiety rattles my heart. I live day to day in fear of what is and is not. This is not how you have called me to live. Such a lifestyle does not bring you honor, but instead minimizes what you mean to me. So I ask that you would change me. Please change my perspective so that I can find that peace that you promise to those who trust in you.

Thank you, Lord. Amen.

15 Verses For Help for When You Need it Most

“One who is righteous has many adversities, but the Lord rescues him from them all.” Psalm 34:19

The Christian life is not free from suffering, but is full of those Lord’s deliverance.

“He said: The Lord is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer.” 2 Samuel 22:2

When we feel troubled in life, recognizing God as a sure and steady rock, brings us stability.

“If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you want and it will be done for you.” John 15:7

One way to avoid suffering and overcome moments of difficulty is to cling to God’s word. Jesus has provided the example for how Christians should behave.

“Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you; I will help you; I will hold on to you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

Scripture tells us over and over again not to fear. Here God emphasizes that truth Himself.

“When I observe your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you set in place, what is a human being that you remember him, a son of man that you look after him?” Psalm 8:3-4

Out of all of His creations, God pays us extra attention. How comforting!

“There is no fear in love; instead, perfect love drives out fear, because fear involves punishment. So the one who fears is not complete in love.” 1 John 4:18

Another reminder that God will offer us help. There is no need to worry.

For I know the plans I have for you”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“plans for your well-being, not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. Jeremiah 29:11

God’s plans for His children are good, wonderful, and beyond what we can imagine.

“The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and rescues them from all their troubles.” Psalm 34:17

God is attentive to our prayers. Therefore, we should be honest and vulnerable when seeking His help.

“But I have trusted in your faithful love; my heart will rejoice in your deliverance. I will sing to the Lord because he has treated me generously.” Psalm 13:5-6

If we truly recognized and believed God’s character, we would always rest assured he will deliver us.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Trusting in God means knowing that our prayers are working. We know He is listening.

“We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19

From our heavenly father, we gain our sense of morality and our understanding of love.

“I am able to do all things through him who strengthens me.” Philippians 4:13

God equips us with the ability to handle the good and the bad from the world.

“The fear of mankind is a snare, but the one who trusts in the Lord is protected.” Proverbs 29:25

Fear operates in our hearts as a trap, making us live with certain insecurities. Trusting in God frees us from those binds.

“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of power, love, and sound judgment.” 2 Timothy 1:7

Fear absent from a life or death scenario is not a gift from God.

“No weapon formed against you will succeed, and you will refute any accusation raised against you in court. This is the heritage of the Lord’s servants, and their vindication is from me.” Isaiah 54:17

The enemy cannot win against God’s children, not when we invest ourselves into the Lord.
