“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.” Ecclesiastes 3:1
In life, there are continual seasons of change. Like the four distinct calendar seasons, differing weather patterns, and life transitions, change is always part of our lives. Despite the changes that will come, God reassures us in His word that He will never leave us or forsake us (Deuteronomy 31:6). Some changes we experience are expected, like new births, aging bodies, new moves, or a job promotion. However, many changes we experience are unexpected, which include challenging health diagnoses, financial trials, relationship strains, or the shocking death of a loved one. We can prepare for many of the changes we face, but many changes leave us surprised, uncertain, blindsided, frustrated, and at times, angry with God. We didn’t see them coming, and we can’t control the outcome.
Ultimately, God is in control during our seasons of change, and He will guide, lead, and strengthen us throughout each one. If you need encouragement, here are five prayers to uplift you during seasons of change:
Dear God,
During this new transition in my life, please remind me that You are always with me and have not forgotten about me. When I am uncertain, afraid, or needing encouragement, remind me of Your faithfulness in the past. Your Word reminds me that You will provide all my needs according to Your riches in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19). While this transition is new and unfamiliar, may You cover me with Your constant, secure, and familiar presence. Thank you for giving me wisdom through Your Word, comfort when I’m down, and hope when I’m hopeless. Help me to be led more by faith rather than my feelings.
Thank you that You will continue to be my present help and lead me in the best direction according to your will. When I am fearful about the unknown in this season, thank you for calming my fears and reigniting in me a grateful spirit.
During this transition season, thank you for helping me see the exciting doors and opportunities that are possible as I trust in You.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
Dear God,
During this new season of change, thank you for continually providing all my needs. When I may not see how things will work out, thank you for making a way out of no way. When I have doubt or uncertainty, renew my mind, and help me to remember Your faithfulness and provision in previous seasons. Amidst this changing season, help me continue to give thanks and worship You with a grateful heart. Thank you for Your Word that fortifies, reassures, and sustains the truth that You will always provide for me. 2 Corinthians 9:8 states, “And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
Thank you that I can come to You in prayer and cast all my cares to You in this new season. Calm my fears, provide me peace, and reinforce my faith and trust in You, knowing You will always provide my every need. Thank you for providing all my physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs. As You provide, I will continue to give you thanks and praise.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
Dear God,
When my mind is racing and filled with anxious thoughts, I seek Your peace for this new season of change. During times of insecurity or questioning Your goodness, please cover me with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. May Your peace comfort the chaos, refresh my soul, and alleviate my fears. When I’m tempted to focus more on my circumstances and the outcome, rather than Your sovereignty, thank you for Your peace that soothes me. John 14:27 states, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not be afraid.”
As everything is evolving around me and seems unsettled, assure me of Your constant, unconditional presence. May Your peace help me to be secure in You and not what I see.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
Today, I invite you to receive God’s perfect peace as You move forward in this new season of change.
Dear God,
When I long to know what’s next in this new season, grant me patience to trust and wait on You. As I wait, lead me in the direction that is best for me. Romans 12:12 states, “Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer.” Help me to exchange my impatience for Your perfect plan for my life. Thank you for renewing my strength, faith, and grateful heart as I wait. Draw me closer to You as I meditate on Your Word, pray, and seek Your face. When I want to rush Your timing and strive within my own strength, thank you for Your patience that helps me not worry. Despite the changing seasons, remind me that following Your lead and timing is best for accomplishing Your God-given purpose for my life. When I am restless, help me to find my ultimate rest in You.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
Dear God,
During this changing season, I seek You and your Word for wisdom and direction for every aspect of my life. When I feel lost or uncertain, show me the way forward with clarity, conviction, and boldness. When I seek Your face, help me to be confident in who You are and not my circumstances. Thank you for Your wisdom that leads, directs, and empowers me to live life with purpose and embrace this new season with great expectation. Psalm 119:105 states, “Your Word is a lamp for my feet, and a light on my path.” While this changing season may seem blurry, thank you for making my path clear and teaching me Your perfect ways. Your wisdom realigns my scattered thoughts and reassures my anxious mind.
Thank you for Your wisdom that calms me when I am frantic, directs me when I am lost, and encourages me when I feel hopeless. During the changing seasons of my life, your wisdom is steadfast, and Your promises remain true.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
As we progress through the rest of this year, I invite you to be encouraged and reminded of God’s continued faithfulness, goodness, and presence during the changing seasons of our lives. Embrace the changing seasons as opportunities to draw closer to God, remember His faithfulness, give thanks for His ongoing goodness, and trust His perfect will. During changing seasons, I invite you to pray for God’s provision, peace, patience, and wisdom as God leads you.
