How many times do we get used to hearing a phrase thrown around that we might stop to ask ourselves what it truly means? We hear things said, such as “I am blessed,” or “God has blessed me.” Maybe we even say this ourselves; but what is God’s blessing exactly? Is it material wealth? Is it anything good that happens to us? Is it just the things we are thankful for?
It is right to give God credit for everything good in our lives. James 1:17 tells us that “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.” He deserves all the glory for what we have and enjoy, but God’s blessings are so much more than what we see and experience on this earth! To understand God’s blessing, we need to take a look at the Bible to guide us.
Here are 20 BIble verses about God’s blessing that show us how He blesses us materially and spiritually, and that Jesus Christ as our atonement for sin is the ultimate blessing God has given to all. May these Scripture quotes increase your faith and trust in our Lord!

4. Psalm 1:1-3
Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers.
And the Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the fruit of your womb and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground, within the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give you. "Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose trust is the Lord. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit."

You shall serve the Lord your God, and he will bless your bread and your water, and I will take sickness away from among you. None shall miscarry or be barren in your land; I will fulfill the number of your days.

A Prayer:
Father God,
I bless you and offer up all praise, honor, and glory to you. Thank you for the many blessings you have bestowed on my life. I know my life is not perfect, but over and over again you have provided the daily blessings of food, clothing, friends, and family. At times I feel like I am missing something, but your Word shows me so many ways that any earthly suffering I experience for your sake will be a greater blessing for your kingdom.
Thank you for the ultimate blessing of Jesus Christ, my Savior. He came to earth, died, and rose again that I could turn from my sins and be forgiven. Thank you that I can spend eternity with you because of this blessing. I pray that you would guide me in loving and obeying your Word and in sharing the blessing of Jesus Christ with others.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Dr. Tony Evans says in his commentary that blessings, like those in the Beatitudes in Luke 6, are “expressions of divine favor and kingdom benefits that would come to Jesus’ followers.” We can experience blessing even in our earthly woes by exchanging them for victory in the kingdom of God. Merriam Webster gives one definition for “blessing” as a thing conducive to happiness or welfare, but we cannot assume that God is withholding blessing when we lack something we want. Ultimately, God’s blessings are not just tied to this earth but are attached to seeking first His kingdom. Only when we find our fulfillment in God will we find true blessing.
