God Is The Giver of Second Chances

His love is far greater than anything you have done. You are His child and He wants you to return to His side.

Many people in our lives do not give us second chances. This sad reality can cause many of us to think that nobody else will ever give us a second chance either. If people won't give you another chance, that doesn't mean God won’t. In fact, God is the God of second chances. We see this in the form of Him sending His Son to repair the broken relationships we caused.

As human beings, we caused sin to enter the world (Genesis 3:1-7). God could have left us to die in our sins with no source of hope. However, the Father sent His Son to die for our sins (John 3:16-17). If we look at this closely, we see that this was a second chance. We ruined our first chance at spending eternity with God in the Garden of Eden, but God was not going to let our chance end there.

The Beauty of Second Chances

If you are searching for God to give you a second chance, you need to look no further. You can go to Him and talk with Him today. Maybe you feel you did something that God could never forgive or you have drifted away from Him for too long. Know that neither of these things is true. There is nothing that God will not forgive and you are never too far gone for the Lord. The Father is our loving Father who welcomes us with open arms.

Just as a parent should love their child, God loves us. The Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit love us with unconditional love. There is nothing that can separate us from the love that God has for us (Romans 8:31-39). Due to God's love, His mercy, kindness, and forgiveness are limitless. No matter what you have done, know that God will forgive you if you turn to Him.

Our human nature tries to tell us that we are “too far gone” or have done something unforgivable, but these things are not true. The concept of the unpardonable sin has made many people think they can do something that could permanently separate them from God. This is not theologically correct nor is there a proper knowledge of the Bible being presented when these ideas surface. (The unpardonable sin is mentioned in Matthew 12:22-23 and Mark 3:22-30.)

The unpardonable sin is blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Many people believe this can happen in the present day, but it cannot. The only time the unpardonable sin could be committed was when Jesus was walking the earth. However, at present, the unpardonable sin cannot be done. If someone has tried to tell you otherwise, know that they are wrong. Nothing is “too bad” or “too severe” for God to forgive. He is the God of second chances and He will give you a new start. All you have to do is turn to Him and ask for His help, and He will answer your prayer according to His will. Allow this truth to give your heart comfort.

God wants to hear from you. His mercies never end (Lamentations 3:22-23). Never doubt that God will welcome you with open arms. The Lord will give you a second chance, a third chance, a fourth chance, and millions more chances. He never runs out of forgiveness, mercy, or love for you. You can always go to Him, no matter what.

Grace and Mercy

This is why it's important to remember God’s grace and mercy when we feel God will not give us a second chance. God’s grace and mercy never cease. Many people in our lives will make us feel as though we do not deserve second chances, but this isn’t what God says. As human beings, it can be hard for us to forgive others, which means your loved ones might have a hard time forgiving you for something you have done. However, do not compare God to human beings.

We are fallen and sinful. We do not have unlimited mercy, grace, and forgiveness as God does. Remember this when you think God will not give you a second chance because your loved ones haven't. God forgives you the moment you ask Him, and He will give you unlimited chances.

Your loved ones could forgive you in the future, but they might need more time before they are ready. God, on the other hand, is already ready to forgive you and to give you a second chance. The Bible tells us, “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9). We need to take this truth to heart. God will give you endless second chances even if the people in your life do not. While it can be painful to know your loved ones will not give you a second chance, we have to remember that there are consequences for our actions.

Nonetheless, God loves you and He is ready to give you a second chance today. At the time of salvation, you are a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:16-17). This means that you are no longer defined by the things of your past. Instead, you are defined by Christ. In Christ, you have unlimited second chances. However you need to start over again today, know that it is possible in Christ.

There Is Redemption

There is always redemption with the Lord. Even if we have done something we believe God would never forgive, He will. God forgives all of our sins and He makes us pure. This is not anything we do, but rather, this is all because of God. Know that God loves you and He will never stop loving you. His love is far greater than anything you have done. You are His child and He wants you to return to His side.

Never feel that you cannot go to God. He will give you a second chance and as many chances as you need. God knows we will all mess up and make mistakes, but what matters is what we do to correct the mistakes. Are we turning to Him or are we hiding from Him? The Lord wants us to turn to Him and accept His forgiveness, grace, mercy, and love. Even though we do not deserve all these great things from the Lord, He gives us His mercy, grace, forgiveness, and love because of who He is.

God is love (1 John 4:16). This means that the very existence of love is found in God alone. The love God has is unlike any other type of love. It goes beyond all understanding. With this same love, He will give you as many second chances as you need. There will be times when your mind tries to say you don’t deserve a second chance or that God will not give you a second chance, but don’t listen to these voices. Instead, lean on what you know and your knowledge will tell you that God will always give you second chances because He loves you.
