Wave of the Holy Spirit - Beloved Women - April 22, 2024
READ: “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” (Acts 1:8 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: One of the most popular vacation spots is the beach. People enjoy the sound and feel of the waves as they roll on and off the shore. While we enjoy them as a source of fun and relaxation, waves are actively redesigning the coastlines they encounter. As waves roll in, they deposit remnants of the ocean along the coast, while simultaneously removing sand from the shore as they roll back out.
When the disciples were gathered on the day of Pentecost, the Holy Spirit came upon them. Tongues like fire rested on each of them and they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues (Acts 2:1-4). Like a wave, the Holy Spirit rolled in and deposited power over the disciples, while simultaneously removing fear so they could be witnesses throughout the earth. Similarly, when the Holy Spirit comes into our lives, we experience the merciful removal of shame, insecurities and fear while receiving a magnificent deposit of grace, forgiveness and power. God is still calling us today to be His witnesses and like the disciples. God ensures that we are always equipped for the task.
PRAY: Father, thank You for giving us power through the Holy Spirit. I pray that today You will deposit everything I need to do Your will and that You will remove anything that stands in the way of fulfilling Your call on my life. In Jesus Christ’s Name, I pray. Amen.
REFLECT: What do you need the Holy Spirit to deposit in your life today? What do you need removed?
