Overcoming the Opinion of Man - Beloved Women - January 12, 2024
READ: “Stop regarding man in whose nostrils is breath, for of what account is he?” (Isaiah 2:22 ESV)
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT: Have you ever thought about what people must have said about Noah when they saw that he was building an ark? What if David had let the taunts of Goliath intimidate him? How much longer would the Israelites have been oppressed by the Midianites if Gideon listened to his own self-talk? What is the advice of man worth when weighed against the word of the Lord? Are you struggling to convince people to agree with what God has called you to do? Do you desire that they would stop criticizing you? The Bible says to stop regarding man “for of what account is he”?
God’s word is the final authority and frankly, the only word that matters. Scripture tells us that God is not a man that He should lie. King Saul told David that he wasn’t able to fight Goliath because he was a young man. But God had already prepared David for that battle. Gideon said that he was the least of the weakest clan but God called him a mighty warrior. Who was right? If you are tempted to believe God over man remind yourself who has the final say.
PRAY: Heavenly Father, I thank You that you have a future in mind for me. I know that I can trust You Lord and I choose to agree with You about who I am. Please help me to heed only your voice when dissenting opinions arise. In the Name of Jesus, I pray. Amen.
REFLECT: Are you allowing the opinions of others to get you off the track that God has for you?
