Where is Your Trust? – Beloved Women – May 13, 2019

"For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also." - Matthew 6:21 NIV
TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT
I recently did a study on what the Bible teaches about money. Do our finances affect how much we rely on God? Do income levels drive us towards or away from God? On some of my mission trips, it appeared to me that those with less money, in other countries, seem to rely on God more than I do. If I am hungry, I buy food. If they feel hunger, they turn to God for Him to provide. Do I trust in my money to satisfy me instead of God?
Matthew 6:21 is a warning. Money, in and of itself, is not wrong or bad. Money becomes a problem when we place our trust in it, instead of putting our faith in God. Riches can be a stumbling block to our faith, but there is good news for us. Jesus states in Luke 18:27, "What is impossible with man is possible with God." (NIV)
PRAY
Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for providing me with the wisdom in the Bible. Thank you for teaching me to follow the path that leads to You. Help me to always remember to trust in you and not on my ways and resources. In Jesus' name, Amen.
REFLECT
How much do you rely on your finances instead of on God?
