Keep Your Focus on the Finish - Beloved Women – October 28, 2019

“Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain. And he shall bring forward the top stone amid shouts of ‘Grace, grace to it!’” (Zechariah 4:7 ESV)

TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT

Is the waiting period taking too long and you feel like you want to give up on a goal?

In the Bible, when Zerubbabel wanted to rebuild the temple, he got as far as the foundation before he was forced to stop. Several years went by with no work before the prophet Zechariah told Zerubbabel to “set the final stone.” The last stone represented the completed project. It was meant as encouragement and assurance to Zerubbabel that the temple would be finished as the Lord said.

It’s tempting to get discouraged when we see a lack of progress in our goals. But when we keep the finish in front of us, we can be encouraged that with God’s strength and His grace, He will complete what He began in us.

Your finish edifies God. You have the power to keep going because Jesus has the power to both start and finish whatever it is you might face.

PRAY

Father, thank You for sending Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, to complete what You began in us. Help me keep Your vision in front of me, Jesus. Thank You for the work You are doing in my life and for Your grace that sees it through. In Jesus Christ Name, I pray. Amen.

REFLECT

Do you have something that represents the final piece to your dreams? Proverbs 29:18 says, “Where there is no vision, the people perish(KJV). With no vision, you’ll get stuck. Find something that represents the final piece to your dreams and keep it in front of you.
