God Will Provide – Beloved Women – September 9, 2024

“So Abraham called the name of that place, “The Lord will provide”; as it is said to this day, “On the mount of the Lord it shall be provided.”(Genesis 22:14 ESV)

TODAY’S ENCOURAGEMENT

What comes to mind when you think of a cow? Let me guess. You are probably thinking, milk, cheese, butter, meat, and perhaps a reliable source of income for the cattle farmer.  We often view God similarly, as a “cash-cow” who provides all our needs.  However, if this is our only view of God, we miss out.

God is more than a “cash cow” and sometimes it takes life’s challenges to reveal our heart and motivations. Abraham was very rich in livestock, silver, and gold (Genesis 13:2). God tested Abraham by asking him to sacrifice Isaac who was his only son. Abraham obeyed and because of his faith, the Lord provided a ram in place of Isaac. God met Abraham’s physical and spiritual needs by giving him the strength to pass the test.

God desires to meet more than our physical needs. He longs for us to trust him and as we do so, he provides us with spiritual nourishment that makes all other provisions look like “extra icing on the cake.”

PRAY

Lord, forgive me for taking your provisions for granted. Increase my desire for Your spiritual nourishment and help me trust You more. Thank You for all the ways you care for me. In Jesus Christ Name, I pray. Amen.
