What She Said! Part 1: Marvelous Love

By Sharon W. Betters

TODAY’S TREASURE

What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we’re called children of God! That’s who we really are. -I John 3:1 The Message

Dear Friends,

Sue Tell says, “Like you, I wear many hats. This Scripture, I John 3:1 is my all the time, always in season hat – I am a child of God, the truth from which the rest of my life flows. One of the favorite parts of my day is the stillness of mornings. This is my time of listening, my time that is spent with my Father, my friend.”

When I started reading Sue’s blog, Echoes of Grace, I knew I had found a long-distance friend. Sue offers her own life as a sacrifice of praise, sharing not only the highs but also the lows in her life. She processes her life through the lens of God’s grace and invites each of us to understand our own lives through the lens of His grace as well.

Sue and her husband Bill are passionate about equipping others to not only serve in ministry but more important to embrace the freedom of growing in our understanding of our identity in Christ. For many years they have worked as partners in ministry with The Navigators. Sue enjoys pouring herself into the lives of women over a cup of coffee, online, or when filling her role as adjunct faculty for Trueface. She touches hearts not only through relationships but also through facilitating retreats and writing on her blog or other platforms.

Sue gives us a glimpse into the deep pains of the depression her husband, Bill experienced. She asks a question most of us have asked in the middle of broken places, “What about me?”  Sue starts out with Bill’s depression and her journey with him. Such background gives us a glimpse of the grid through which Sue pushes her relationship to Jesus. I’m praying someone reading will hear the Lord speak into their depression and give them hope.

Treasured by Him,

Sharon

Life-Giving Encouragement

Sue’s husband, Bill, wrote a book, Lay it Down, that I highly recommend, especially if you or someone you love struggles with depression. You can purchase his book online or in bookstores.
