YOUR BEST CLOTHES

Jaime Wyrtzen Lauze´

And he said, “Who are you?” And she answered, “I am your maid.” Ruth 3:9

“Wash yourself therefore, and anoint yourself and put on your best clothes...” Ruth 3:3

The Bible talks about what we are wearing spiritually before the throne of grace. What are you wearing today?

Naomi goes down in history as the best mother-in-law ever. She loved Ruth, the wife of her dead son. In fact, she helped her to find a new husband in Bethlehem. How often does something like that happen? After Ruth gleaned barley and wheat during both harvesting seasons, Naomi knew it was time to set her up with Boaz. She said, “Wash yourself therefore, and anoint yourself and put on your best clothes, and go down to the threshing floor; but do not make yourself known to the man until he has finished eating and drinking.”

In the book of Esther, we see the queen putting on her royal robes before she risks her life by approaching the throne unbidden. I can’t but help make the comparison of Who we are wearing, if we are followers of Jesus Christ. Galatians 3:27 says, “For all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ.” His Spirit lives in us and we are clothed in His righteousness. Esther wore her royal robes to remind the king and all of the spectators in the throne room of who and what she was.

We do the same, but without the fear of annihilation. Hebrews 4:16 says, “Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”What do you need today? Please take comfort that our God is available to provide for your every need.

Dear Heavenly Father,Thank you for making a way for us to approach You. Without Jesus, we wouldn’t have that awesome privilege. Let me never think that any need is too small or too big for You to tend.In Jesus name, Amen.
