SAY SOMETHING!

Sometimes I’ve wondered, “Why do I have to pray when God already knows everything?” I’ve since learned that’s a pretty popular question among believers. Well, I Kings gives us some insight on this.
King David promised that his son, Solomon, would become the next king. But even though this was known, it did not stop another son, Adonijah, from vying for power. When David was sick in bed and close to death, the kingdom came close to war. Bathsheba, yes, THAT Bathsheba, approached King David and bowed before him. He then inquired what she wanted. She told him about Adonijah. Nathan, the prophet came in right after to validate Bathsheba. The King restated that Solomon was the promised king. This declaration made Adonijah a usurper. But he might have succeeded had Bathsheba and Nathan not told David.
Unlike David, God knows everything. He knows everything that has happened, is happening, and will happen. But that doesn’t mean that He will automatically intervene in our lives. We have to approach Him and ask. Queen Esther was in a similar situation when she had to approach her husband, King Xerxes, for the lives of her people. She, and her people, fasted for three days, She then put on her royal robes before approaching the king.
Likewise, we must be clothed in Jesus. We need to approach Him, as king, just as Bathsheba did. And sometimes, we need to ask others to approach Him with us. When we do this, we recognize that we are powerless. We are admitting that we need Jesus. When we are clothed in Jesus, God sees His Son. He will always listen to His Son.
