For God’s Glory

Café Menu for Tuesday, September 9, 2014

Today’s Special is: My Journey with God

Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Carolyn Dale Newell

Main Ingredient:

Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in Him.

John 9:3 NKJV

Entrée:

I can identify with the blind man in John chapter nine. He was born blind. I was born with a visual impairment which progressed slowly until age 50. Then it took off rapidly. Now I am almost totally blind. However, like the blind man, I am not losing my vision because of sin, but it is for God’s glory.

God allowed the man in John’s gospel to be blind for many years. Can you imagine the grace that God gave him, knowing that He would bless the man with a miracle? Every time someone reads this story, God is glorified.

I don’t consider my impending blindness as a tragedy or a curse. Many people would become angry with God, but I consider it a privilege. God has used my testimony and my writing for His glory. I didn’t even want to use a computer until my rehab counselors coaxed me into it.

Before I could get started, God had laid it on my heart to write devotions to encourage others. I could not have gone through the difficult period of rehab, especially the braille lessons, without God’s grace and strength.

God placed a desire in me to share that experience with others. I have been through the storm, and I could tell others that God will come through for them. You just have to trust Him. All His promises are true, and I see His glorious blessings every day.

What journey does God have you on? It may be painful, but give God the glory as He brings you through it. He is faithful, and He will never allow you to be tried

beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it

1 Corinthians10:13 NKJV

Take Out:

And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Romans 8:28 NKJV

God has a purpose in every trial that He allows to come into our lives. Seek to glorify God through your trial, and always trust Him.

Dessert:

Father,

Thank You for the way You are working in my life. Thank You for the way You will get me through this trial. Help me to bring glory to You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
