F R A G I L E - Handle With Care

Café Menu for Monday, February 22, 2016

Today’s Special is:  Navigating a broken heart

Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Aj Luck

Main Ingredient:

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Psalm 34:18 NIV

Entrée:

The Bible says the Lord is close to the brokenhearted.

Then it says,

We are blessed when we mourn.

How can we grasp these truths when we hurt so badly?

February is better known as the month to celebrate love.  Hearts.  Cupid.  Chocolates.  Flowers.  Gifts.  Reservations.  Romance.

What about those of us who are mourning during this season?  Loss.  Hurt.  Pain.  Brokenness.  Loneliness.

I’m not only talking about loss due to illness but what about other types of loss?

Romantic relationships?  Broken by disagreement?  Infidelity?  Disinterest?

Family relationships?  Torn apart by anger, resentment or even abuse?

Dissolved friendships?  Tattered communication?  Misunderstanding?  Un-forgiveness?

Matthew 5:4 says

God blesses those who mourn, for they will be comforted.

When we read the word MOURN, we automatically think, ultimate loss, death.  There are many expressions of how we feel when we mourn; these are just a few:

Agonize, anguish, bleed, hurt, grieve, sorrow, suffer, ache, long (for), pine (away), sigh, smart; rack, torment, torture; bemoan, bewail, deplore, lament, rue; bawl, blubber, cry, groan, howl, keen, moan, sob, take on, wail, weep, yammer, yowl; languish; regret.

The bottom line is no matter what word you may chose to try and express your pain, there is one word we must never forget - PROMISE.

Jesus PROMISES you that He will be right there in the midst of your hurt and heartache to comfort YOU.

He promises us that He will comfort us during this time.  I know it’s hard to walk through these places in our lives.  Please don’t isolate yourself.  Allow Jesus to come in and comfort you, and carry you.

The bible says that we are to rejoice with those who rejoice and weep with those who weep.

That’s why we are called the body of Christ.  One part can’t hurt without the other parts being affected.  Know you are not alone.  You are loved.  Jesus is right there with you, holding you, whispering words of comfort and strength deep into your heart.

It will be okay.  I promise.

Through Jesus, there is always HOPE.

Take Out:

Stand tall.

Inhale deeply.

Exhale slowly.

Reach down and grab the hand of Jesus and take the first step into HOPE.

Dessert:

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you that you are a God who loves us unconditionally.  Thank you for being our comforter in our deepest times of need.  Lord I ask that you would send hope and healing into my heart right now. I’m hurting more than I ever knew I could.  I need you.  I need your comfort and strength. Help me take my next breath and next step in you.  Help me to know that it will be okay because you are with me.  In Jesus name, Amen.
