Healer of Broken Hearts
By Savannah Parvu
The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is on me, because the LORD has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, to proclaim the year of the LORD’S favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn. Isaiah 61:1-2 NIV
Brokenness is a feeling I learned at a very young age. With alcoholic and drug-addicted parents, I didn’t have anyone to love me the way a child should experience love. I was ultimately rejected by the person that was supposed to love me the most, my mother. I didn’t have any one consistent person in my life to show me love or value and, as a result, I spent many years searching for those things in all the wrong places.
I was searching for someone to love me, care about me, value me, but I only found people that continued to hurt me.
When I was twenty-two years old, I learned for the first time what it meant to be truly loved. I learned that what I thought was love, was not love at all.
He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. Psalm 147:3 NIV
I surrendered my life to the Lord and He has been healing my broken heart. It hasn’t been easy, but it’s a journey I’ve been on for many years now. I’ve had to learn to open up my whole heart and give everything to God so He can provide healing. He has healed wounds I didn’t even know existed.
I no longer feel broken or unlovable because I am healed and loved by the King of Kings.
Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. 2 Corinthians 5:17 NASB
I no longer walk around with a heart that is hardly beating; my heart has been healed and beats rapidly for the Lord.
Because of the pain I’ve experienced in the past, God is allowing me to help others who feel the brokenness and hopelessness that I have felt for so many years. He is allowing me to share the hope I have found in Him and He can give you that very same hope too!
Have you given your heart to the Lord so He can heal the broken places?
Take time today to ask God if you are holding onto brokenness you haven’t released.
Dear God, thank You for being the Healer of our brokenness. God, we long to be healed from our wounds. Search our hearts and reveal to us anything we may still be holding on to. Lord, help us release everything to You. We want to be healed. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
