Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Lara Sadowski
Main Ingredient:
I will betroth you to me forever;I will betroth you in righteousness and justice, in love and compassion.
Hosea 2:19 NIV
Entrée:
The best day of my life was February 13, 2011. That was the day I said a resounding I DO to my sweet David. Family and friends, celebrating our big day, surrounded us. We then took a romantic 10-day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean. Awesome!
And then the work began!
I’m a relative newlywed, just seven months shy of my five-year wedding anniversary. But I can honestly say that marriage takes DAILY COMMITMENT. It is not hearts and flowers every day. It’s work. But it’s work that I wouldn’t trade for the world.
There are days that I’m not a really pleasant person. Running a business, running our household, grocery shopping and preparing healthy meals – all of those great things sometime take their toll on my mood. My hubby travels for work each week and I always miss him when he’s gone. And sometimes I take my “missing him” out on him. I get tired. I get weary.
I would not trade my David for anything in the world. He is an absolute, 100% blessing! And I am thankful to the Lord for sending him to me. Over these past five years, I have learned a few tips that strengthen me in my daily commitment to my marriage. Here are a few of those:
- Spend time each morning with The Lord and ask for His help in being the helpmate He wants you to be in your marriage.
- Tell your husband how much you love him EVERY DAY. It will put a smile on your face and his;
- Keep open communication going with your husband. Tell him when you’re having a bad day and ask for his encouragement.
- Send your man a card or put a note in his lunch, telling him how proud you are of him;
- Forgive me for being a little descriptive, but be intimate with your husband. A lot. It’s good for both of you and...
- Most importantly, keep the Lord in the center of your marriage. He is for you both and will strengthen you each and every day.
Take Out:
Keep The Lord in the center of your marriage. He will give you both the strength you need to have a fulfilling, successful life together. Hosea 2:19 has become one of my favorite verses.
Dessert:
Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of marriage. It’s hard work, but it’s so very worth the commitment. Please strengthen our marriages in today’s tough culture. For all of our sisters in Christ who are struggling in their marriages, wrap Your loving arms around them and encourage them. Help us to keep You first in all things. We surely love You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
