No Remorse
By Dawn Mast

For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.  1 Peter 1:18-19 NIV

Christmas was last month (Don’t worry. No Matter what time of year you’re reading this, the message is still applicable.) Our presents have been opened, the delightful food has been eaten, and most of the gifted articles of clothing received have been washed and worn several times.

But, isn’t there often a gift (or 2) that just doesn’t cut it? One you thought was going to be a great present, but later you realized it wasn’t worth purchasing, wrapping up and giving and the person you gave it to wasn’t even excited about it?

This thought crossed my mind as I made the trip to the store to return something I thought would be good for someone. It happens to me often. I buy something (or lots of somethings) and when I get home I realize I didn’t need it, want it or it was more than I should have spent.

In marketing terms, it’s called buyers remorse and it’s rampant in our culture of bulk stores and Internet shopping. We buy. It shows up lightening fast and we quickly realize we made a mistake.

Jesus spent more than just a few dollars on us. He spent His entire life. His blood. His soul. His heart is what He spent. And we can scour Scripture and we won’t find one bit of “buyers remorse” for what He spent.

None.

We disappoint the Lord all the time. Every day. In plenty of ways with our thoughts, words, actions and the way we ignore Him. But, He never has remorse about what He spent on us.

Ponder this. Let it rest on your heart and in the middle of the worst thing you know about yourself. He sees it anyway, and He still has no regret over the fact that He gave up His whole life for you, for me and all the selfish, silly, thoughtless things we do.

We are loved with an everlasting love (Jeremiah 31:3) and the Lord does not have any regrets about sacrificing His life for us. This is a gift that is non-returnable!

We all have moments inlife when we feel unloved and feel like the Lord may have made a huge mistake in calling us to a particular place or purpose. Take a moment to think on His sacrifice and how He always has your best interests in mind.

You may have been so hurt and battered by human love you can’t grasp the concept of God’s love. Good! It’s not the same! His love is better, more powerful, deeper and richer than any human love! And He has no remorse or regrets about choosing to love you! Bask in that truth today friend!

Sweet Heavenly Father, I have so many regrets in life that I have a hard time seeing that You have no regrets in the way You love me. Help me today to see that Your love for me is pure, deep and rich and that You honestly have no misgivings about having me as your child. Thank You for gathering me under Your wing and protecting me, adoring me, delighting in me and singing over me (Zephaniah 3:17). I am loved by Almighty God! In Jesus Name, Amen!
