Today’s Special is: The Great Heart Surgeon
Carefully prepared just for you by your friend, Carolyn Dale Newell
Main Ingredient:
The Spirit of the Lord isupon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to thepoor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to thecaptives and recovery of sight to theblind, toset at liberty those who are oppressed;
Luke 4:18 NKJV
Entrée:
Broken promises, broken homes, broken marriages… quite likely, you feel broken today. Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus Christ was a carpenter, but Jesus is the carpenter for the brokenhearted.
Carpenters build things, but they also repair things. My husband can fix just about anything. Many hopeless items have been fixed in his hands, but he can’t fix me when I am broken.
However, Jesus can.
My husband can’t fix me when I’ve been lied to, tongue-lashed, or betrayed, but Jesus can. My husband can’t fix me when I am depressed or oppressed, but Jesus can. Many hopeless people have been made whole in Jesus’ hands.
This world can dish out a lot of hurt, even in the church. That is the worst kind, but Jesus experienced that same hurt firsthand. Judas betrayed Him. People mocked Him. Jesus knows hurt and He knows how to heal it.
Sweet friend, I don’t know what type of brokenness you face today, but Jesus Christ came to heal the brokenhearted! He cares about you and your brokenness. He loves you.
We don’t know why we have to go through the hurt. We can’t understand why we became the victim. It doesn’t make sense why after all those years your husband left.
Jesus was there in the midst of your sorrow. He is still there. He will never leave you (Heb. 13:5). Turn to Him. Talk to Him. Cry to Him.
Jesus is the master carpenter for broken people. When He puts us back together, we are better than ever. His strength will become our strength.
Broken hearts are His specialty. Leave your brokenness with Jesus today.
Take Out:
Put some gospel music on. Open your Bible, (Psalms are a great place to start), and talk to Jesus. He will bring healing to your hurt.
Dessert:
Heavenly Father,
You know my hurt. You see my heart is in a million pieces, but You Father can mend it. You can make it stronger. You are my refuge in times of trouble, and today I come to You for shelter from the hurt. Thank You for Your abiding love. Amen.
