Accost my thoughts
Recently, two awesome, precious fellow Warrior Mom leaders said, “Kristina, what can we pray for you about?” To which I replied, “That God would accost my thoughts!”
Accost means to approach and speak to aggressively. I have always prayed that my will become God’s will in such a way that I do not know the difference, but recently, I have prayed with a new intensity that He would accost my thoughts! I have realized that there are many details of our days, distractions, chaos, yes – true needs, questions, exhaustion and the need for physical and emotional support from family and friends, deadlines and so much more that needs prayer, but I am finding that this specific request for God to accost my thoughts would allow me the ability to face all of those things with His mindset rather than my own, thereby saving me much emotional, physical, and spiritual energy to forge ahead, gaining more territory for the kingdom.
If God accosts my thoughts, thereby saving me the pain of even having many thoughts of the flesh, then I won’t even have to experience that fleshly thought or waste the minutes on this earth on stuff that is a mere distraction. Only God can do such a thing though. Now, I know I will still have “Kristina thoughts” because I’m human. I’m not asking to be made into a God-robot whereby I, personally don’t experience the beauty of conversations entailing my thoughts and God’s answers, but I am asking to be a God-Warrior who constantly experiences thoughts that have been accosted (approached to and spoken to aggressively) by God before I experience them. Let’s call it a God-thought-Filter for my thoughts.
You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you know it completely, O Lord. Psalm 139:2-4.
“Accost my thoughts!”
PS, I emailed them the next day and also asked them to pray for a home for me and my family, and a puppy for my kids because I need prayer for all things from thoughts to the physical reality of a home and all that life entails.
