Cliff's Notes - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of October 31

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

Cliff’s Notes are wonderful things aren’t they?  No, they don’t answer all the questions that will be on the test, but they do at least organize the characters and scenes. I was admiring my collection of Cliff Notes the other day, and a thought went through my mind.  “Wouldn’t it be great to have the next sequel of Cliff Notes before each new chapter of our lives?”  It is sometimes just so hard to understand the circumstances, the roles that we are supposed to be playing; it’s hard to grasp the theme (i.e., the meaning, of what is going on), and it’s just plain hard to comprehend all that we have to deal with sometimes.  I’m just simply saying that if God ever decided to get into the Note publishing business, He’d be a millionaire.

But that’s silly. He already owns the cattle on a thousand hills.  He doesn’t need any money (it’s all His anyway), and we don’t really need Cliff Notes; we simply need to remember to check in with the Author and Finisher of our Faith, and consult Him daily as to what role we are supposed to be playing.

CLIFF NOTES

Wouldn’t it be great
To have Cliff Notes for every chapter
To understand our roles
And the essence that we are supposed to be after
Oh yes wouldn’t it be grand
To get it every time
And have our work loved
Like a Shakespearian rhyme
We’d all like to know the next set up
Of the approaching scene
We’d all like to know the characters
And what it is they’ll say and understand what they mean
Yes it would be nice to pre-plan
And pick our costumes just so
It would be nice to know exactly
Where it is we’ll go
If God ever decided to publish Cliff Notes
He’d sell them by the thousands
People would all flock
In the utterly gazillions
But that’s a silly thought
It really is you know
Since he already published the Bible
So that’s where I will go
No it’s not all spelled out
But He speaks to you through His word
And waiting for the Cliff Note version
Would really be absurd
Look to God and ask Him
  Seek and you will find
God’s word presents each answer
Through every single line
There really is no short cut
Or replacement for God’s version
Would you want a doctor operating on you
Who just studied Cliff Notes for you surgeons
Oh no I know you probably wouldn’t
And neither would I
And when you read the Bible
Whenever you want – you can laugh or even cry
Cliff Notes have limitations
But God stretched out the sky

Warrior Moms,
Know that God’s Cliff’s Notes are full of wisdom, love, and strength – in His Word.
Fill up on Him and you’ll have all that you need today!
Love,
Kristina
