Do Not be Terrified by Them - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of October 13

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

Do not be Terrified by Them

In my quite time this morning, the Lord led me to Jeremiah 1:17

Do not be terrified by them or I will terrify you before them.

This verse stopped me in my tracks. I read it, not as encouragement, but as a warning from God. I sat up rather straight and I contemplated the consequences of being disobedient to this order. In studying the Book of Jeremiah, I see how Jeremiah had to be obedient to this command. God had a lot of things for Jeremiah to say to a lot of tough audiences. I thought of things I have acted terrified by, and I felt badly for having done so. I realized that I need to be more terrified and in awe of God more than I am of any people before me (whether they are famous, mean, powerful, or all 3). I do not want to be disobedient, allowing others to terrify me, causing me to tinkle in my pants rather tell of God’s greatness. Rather, I want to be obedient and tell of God’s glory. I see more fully how fear and being terrified is a choice of the flesh, but faith is an earnest decision of fiercely dedicated warriors.

Do not be terrified by them or I will terrify you before them.

Jeremiah 1:17
