Pray Protection - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of November 12

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

Pray Protection

I recently added some important concepts to The Warrior Mom and The Warrior Handbook. One of the major additions is to pray for protection. Even Jesus prayed for protection. He was also very in control all the time. There may have been chaos all around Him, but Jesus was self-controlled. I notice that self-control comes at the end of the list of fruits.

I Peter 4:7 "The end of all things is near. Therefore be clear-minded and self-controlled so that you can pray."

It is essential that you pray protection over yourself, your family, and those you love. You need to specifically pray for protection from evil. Consider how Jesus prayed in Matthew chapter 6:9-13.

“This is then how you should pray: ‘Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.’ ”

I rise every morning, pour myself and God a cup of coffee (literally, I pour Him His own cup; I move the chair out quite a bit for Him too), and I ask Him for blessings, expanded territory, and protection from evil. I call aloud my every person’s name in my family (and friends that I know and love; I even ask for blessings, expanded territory, and protection for those who persecute me. I pray that God would accost their hearts!), and I pray for every Warrior in God’s Army and all the members of their household.

If you have never read The Prayer of Jabez by Bruce Wilkinson, I highly suggest that you do. In fact, all of his books are strong Biblical teaches that will further equip you in your walk. I was re-reading The Prayer of Jabez recently, and Dr. Wilkinson discussed how if we are praying for expanded territory for the Kingdom, that means we are walking into the enemy’s territory. As you well know from the chapter in the Warrior Wife and The Warrior Mom Handbook entitled, “Yes, We have an Enemy,” we need to be praying for protection from evil. As you become more involved with the Word, and as you realize that there is spiritual warfare that goes on at all times, you will realize how essential it is that you pray for protection.

We don’t live in fear; we live by faith; however, as Warriors, we take very seriously what Jesus said. Since He told us to pray and ask for protection from evil, it is of most importance that we do just that. If you are a leader (and all of our are leading someone in some way), I know you are not ignorant to the fact that since you have faithfully stepped up to serve others, the enemy will attempt to get you to sit back down; this is why you must pray for protection for yourself and others. When you protect yourself in this way, you negate many superfluous arrows from the evil one. And, as you pray for protection, remember, the Lord is the ultimate warrior.

Exodus 15:3 The Lord is a Warrior.
