The Gigantic Mountain
I’ve heard a lot of people say, “You can focus on the mountain or God.” I know that I must choose. Likewise, so must you.
What we focus on determines what we see, and what we see determines where we go, and where we go determines the impact we make, and the impact we make is determined by what we do when we get there, based upon what we’ve learned and believed thus far on our journey.
We are walking, talking compilations of many thoughts, experiences, prayers, and beliefs. Facing a mountain reveals the same beliefs that we face every morning when we look in the mirror. If I believe God is amazing and able to do all that He has planned through me today, I see a mighty warrior when I brush my hair. If I see a mountain before me, and I immediately say, “The Lord is a Warrior; God is mightier, bigger, stronger! He is The Great I Am,” I declare that I am more focused on God than any mountain that appears before me. If I focus on The Ultimate Warrior (Exodus 15:3), I know that I too can be one.
Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received from the Lord’s hand double for all her sins. A voice of one calling: “In the desert prepare the way for the Lord; make straight in the wilderness a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all mankind together will see it. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken.”
