COME WITH ME BY YOURSELVES TO A QUIET PLACE AND GET SOME REST.”
The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, “Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest.” Mark 6:30.
We all have experienced days that we were so busy we barely had a chance to eat something. I love this verse because it gives us a glimpse of the reality of the apostles’ life. Jesus knew how important it was for them to learn the discipline of getting away to spend time with Him and rest.
I encourage you to consider how busy your days are. How might you reorganize your calendar and your days in order that you experience the blessings that result from the discipline of spending time with The Divine.
I am a mother who has two busy teenagers. As they get older, I notice how touched my heart is when they decide to take the time to sit with me and share descriptions of their days. It especially touches my heart when they ask me, “How was your day?” I know that God, our Heavenly Father, is even more touched when we take the time to discuss the details of our days, our hearts and our hopes and dreams with Him.
I encourage you to go away with God each day. Growth always occurs in the hearts of those who seek God in His Word and in prayer.
