Bless the King of Babylon's Heart! - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of March 5

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

BLESS THE KING OF BABYLON’S HEART!

In the South, when we feel bad for someone, we say, “Bless their heart!”

I feel bad for the King of Babylon because I, too, have experienced how dangerous a slow, creeping, ignorant, arrogance can become. Twelve months before the following scripture, Daniel warned King Nebuchadnezzar about the dangers of arrogance.

All this happened to King Nebuchadnezzar. Twelve months later, as the king was walking on the roof of the royal palace of Babylon, he said, “Is not this the great Babylon I have built as the royal residence, by my mighty power and the glory of my majesty?” The words were still on his lips when a voice came from heaven, “This is what is decreed for you, King Nebuchadnezzar: Your royal authority has been taken from you.” Daniel 5:28-31

It is so tempting to think that what “we” have accomplished is by our own doing. Success can cause one to be ignorant of the fact that the very breath we breathe is because God provides the air for us to breathe as well as the lungs in which we inhale. Sure, God wants us to believe in our Christ-fueled confidence, but He never wants us to become confident merely due to “Self.”  There is a big difference between Self-Confidence and Christ-Confidence. I encourage you to read the book of Daniel and consider how Daniel trusted, served, and gave credit to God for all he did.

Mountain tops can be dangerous places. May we stay steadfast in His Word and in prayer as we passionately seek and serve the Most High.

But he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6

There’s Strong. Then There’s God-Strong!
