My Wardrobe - Warrior Mom Wisdom - Week of July 5

Warrior Mom Wisdom Devotional

“OKAY, GOD, BUT PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY WARDROBE.”

Recently, God told me to dress-up. He has been pointing out dresses that I haven’t worn in many years and saying, “Wear this one today.” He’s even having me get out my jewelry. It’s costume jewelry, but none-the-less, it looks cute and it makes my outfit look more pulled together. I’ve taken many people by surprise. My ponytail and baseball cap is making less frequent appearances, and people are saying, “Oh, you look nice, what’s the occasion?”

“Oh, I’m just making more of an effort,” I say.

To my close friends, I say, “God picked this out, today.”

I recently told God that I would be happy to continue to dress-up, but I need His help with my wardrobe. Specifically, I did not own any brown heels as my pair broke last year, and I didn’t have the “funding” to go buy a new pair. I had a cute pair of black shoes, but the strap broke on those. So, I asked God for shoes. About two weeks later, my mom and her fiancé came to Georgia for a visit. My mom’s fiancé has a daughter who is my age. She recently ordered 4 pairs of new shoes, but they were a little too small. Rather than send them back to Nordstrom, and Liz Calirborne, she was going to give them to Goodwill. My mom asked if it would be okay to give them to me in Georgia since I wear a 9 ½ shoe.

For those of you in shock at the size of my feet, I’ll let you know that my feet grew 1 half size after being pregnant with my daughter, and then, they grew (or more so ‘flattened out’) another half size after being pregnant with my son. I was once a size 8 ½ and now I’m a 9 ½! Good thing I only have two children. Can you imagine if I had 4! I’d be wearing men’s construction boots. Oh that’s funny, I actually wear combat boots with my pink camo warrior woman uniform. I digress.

Needless to say, I recently received 4 brand new pair of beautiful shoes! God reminded me of the following verse, and let me know that He always rewards those who earnestly seek Him.

How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? -Rom. 10:14

And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” -Rom. 10:15
