Your Nightly Prayer

TONIGHT’S SCRIPTURE

As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.” - Psalms 18:30 NKJV

SOMETHING TO PONDER

I drove to work one day, and the lake I always passed was completely calm. There was no breeze to create ripples, no fish moving the waters; it was still. Because of this, the reflection of the trees in the water was crystal clear.

Suddenly, I thought about the verse that had been at the forefront of my mind for the last two years. “Be still and know that I am God.” It dawned on me that when we are still in the midst of our challenging situations, the Lord can be seen more clearly in us, just like the water in the lake.

I wish I could say that I don’t worry and that I never get frustrated, especially when I have to wait for extended periods of time, uncertain if what I am waiting for will take place. I would be good, and we would be good to memorize this verse. God’s way is perfect; His word is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him.

YOUR NIGHTLY PRAYER

Father, please forgive me and forgive us when we have not rested in you. Forgive us for not trusting you. Father, please help us to lean on, trust in, and depend on you to direct and guide us. You say your plans will not be thwarted. Despite what we are facing, you love us unconditionally. You are for us. You will not abandon us. You are good. You are true. Please help us to hang our heads, hearts, and lives on you. We love you. Amen.

THREE THINGS TO MEDITATE UPON

1. Think of someone or something you trust. Now, think how much more trustworthy God is than that person or thing.

2. Ponder how it feels to have a baby fall asleep in your arms. Picture yourself falling that deeply into sleep on your heavenly father.

3. Think of the last time you felt protected. Think how much more the Lord would protect you if He was physically here.
