It is important to honor the birthdays of loved ones, friends, and neighbors; it reminds them they are special, loved, and remembered. There are many ways to show our love: gifts and balloons are always fun. One of the best ways to remember a birthday is with Bible verses filled with loving words and encouragement. A special birthday card with a perfect sentiment of how special the birthday friend is can be more valuable than a specially wrapped box. Sometimes, however, finding just the right card that perfectly describes how valuable that person is can be near impossible. We hope to make it easier this year by sharing our favorite Bible verses for birthdays!
Celebrating my children’s birthdays when they were young was great fun. Today we enjoy remembering when they were small, and we laugh at the many ways we marked each passing year. There was always cake and friends and family. At times we held a party that included different cartoon characters or superheroes or maybe a trip to the toy store. They would say how the celebrations made them feel special and loved. Isn’t that what we all want on our birthday, to know we are special, loved and remembered?
Instead of a purchased card, perhaps the best way to honor someone’s special day is through a blessing of Scripture woven into our birthday wishes, written in our handwriting. By combining Scripture quotes with a profoundly personal birthday greeting, we bring the power of God’s word into the celebration and show our friends they are more valuable than a greeting card.
For instance, we might write, “Happy Birthday and I love you, and so does God. May the Lord bless you and keep you and make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace (Numbers 6:24-26).” These words display our desire for the birthday blessing to be eternal and not temporal.
Instead of a store-bought card this year, try combining your words with blessings from Scripture! What a wonderful timely reminder for God's blessings and promises over family and friends. Enjoy and share these 20 Bible verses for birthdays to celebrate and bless those near and dear to your heart.

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Show me, Lord, my life’s end and the number of my days; let me know how fleeting my life is. You have made my days a mere handbreadth; the span of my years is as nothing before you. Everyone is but a breath, even those who seem secure.
May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed.
For he will command his angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways; they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread on the lion and the cobra; you will trample the great lion and the serpent. “Because he loves me,” says the Lord, “I will rescue him; I will protect him, for he acknowledges my name. He will call on me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation.
For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
Let them praise the name of the Lord, for at his command they were created, and he established them for ever and ever—he issued a decree that will never pass away.
For through wisdom your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.
But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
The Lord your God is with you, the Mighty Warrior who saves. He will take great delight in you; in his love he will no longer rebuke you, but will rejoice over you with singing.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!
I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy.
And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you. We continually ask God to fill you with the knowledge of his will through all the wisdom and understanding that the Spirit gives, so that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and please him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God, being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience, and giving joyful thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of his holy people in the kingdom of light.
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all he created.
Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well.
Each birthday is reminder that God created each of us uniquely, on purpose, to do His will. We are His masterpiece. As you write a special birthday wish and blessing to friends, family and loved ones, take a moment to ask God to especially bless them on their birthday and that each of them know the greatest gift of all--His love.
