Find treasure by reading God’s inspired Word. These powerful words change lives today as they have for thousands of years.
Scripture contains excellent precepts that even children understand, yet they’re sometimes unreachable by the most outstanding scholars. Ultimately, we must accept these teachings by faith. Scripture teaches, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see” (Hebrews 11:1 NIV).
Here are seven unchangeable truths I stand on: realities that help me weather life's storms and resist the lies of the enemy. When doubts and fears threaten me, His revelation is my anchor.
God’s love for me and my status as His child are freely given gifts. Merit, work, or earning play no part. Salvation is a gift of grace bought and paid for by Jesus Christ and given to all who believe in Him. But, I’m sometimes weary of my weaknesses and the spiritual battle. When I feel that assault by faith, I cling to these promises.

1. He Chose Me Before He Created the World
As long as I live on this earth, my body is finite, bound by space and time. But God is outside of time. He’s always existed and always will. He’s without beginning or end. He sees everything; there’s no past and future in Him, only now.
New Testament writer and Christ-follower Paul wrote, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world…In love, he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will—to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves” (Ephesians 1:4-6 NIV).
By faith, I believe He chose me before He created the world. My future existence as His child was known to Him from the beginning of creation. Yet, I had the freedom to choose and came to Him willingly. I can’t explain how this is true, but I believe God can do anything as is taught throughout Scripture.
When doubts come to me and I wonder if I’m secure, I cling to the truth that I was His before I was born.

2. He Sees Me As Holy and Righteous
Paul declares, “For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight.” (Ephesians 1:4 NIV). I don’t see myself as blameless. I know I sin daily and fall short of God’s holy standard. Jesus came to earth to be born and live a perfect life because He knew we were helpless on our own.
God looks at believers through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, who took my sinfulness and gave me His righteousness. Jesus provides all who believe in Him His holiness. He took all the blame for our sins. I came to God trusting in the righteousness of Christ because I have none of my own.

3. My Life is Hidden with Christ in God
At times, when I see how I’ve failed to obey all his commands or compare myself to others who seem more godly and obedient than I am, I’m tempted to wonder where I stand with God. But the truth is, once we’re in Christ, nothing can cause us to be separated from Him.
Paul shared this amazing truth, “For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God” (Colossians 3:3 NIV). We can’t fully comprehend it, but once we accept Christ’s sacrifice for our sins, our old self is crucified with Him, and our soul is then hidden in Him. We’re kept in Christ, and when God hides something, it’s secure.

4. No One Can Take Me from His Hand
Jesus sometimes referred to His followers as sheep. Speaking of those who believe in Him, He gave this powerful promise twice: “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one” (John 10:27-30 NIV).
Once we believe in Jesus, we’re His forever. Almighty God holds us in His hands, and we’re kept safe there. He’s all-powerful, all-knowing, and sovereign over all that exists. How could anyone take us away from Him?
How reassuring to know my soul is utterly secure in Jesus. There are many possible ways harm might come to my body, and in fact, my physical being will one day die and decay. But my soul will be alive forever with Him.

5. I Am Seated with Christ in the Heavenly Realms
Paul wrote this astonishing promise, “And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:6 NIV). When we place our faith in Jesus Christ, we join Him in His death, burial, and resurrection. We’re raised with Him and, in God’s eyes, already seated with Him.
Being with Christ for eternity isn’t something that might happen; it’s a certainty. God considers it done. I’m already there. What an astounding truth that I can’t comprehend, yet it comforts my soul.
Paul expounds on this idea. “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we will certainly also be united with him in a resurrection like his” (Romans 6:4-5 NIV). What a glorious promise! We will join our Lord in His resurrection and live with Him forever.

6. The Holy Spirit Seals Me
When we trust Jesus Christ as our Savior, He sends His Spirit to live in us. The Holy Spirit fills us and stamps our souls as belonging to the Father. Scripture assures us, “When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory” (Ephesians 1:13b-14 NIV). Jesus sent the Holy Spirit as our counselor, teacher, and guide. His power enables us to follow Christ.
How reassuring that “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children” (Romans 8:16 NIV). When I’ve been discouraged by doubt, the testimony of His Spirit in me has brought me peace.

7. I Am Made Perfect Forever
From Genesis to Revelation, Scripture teaches that sin must be paid for with a perfect blood sacrifice: "Without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness… so Christ was sacrificed once to take away the sins of many” (Hebrews 9:22b, 28a NIV).
Jesus lived a sinless life on earth and then offered Himself as a holy, perfect, all-atoning sacrifice. He took our place and paid the price for our sins with His blood: “For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy” (Hebrews 10:14 NIV).
He took all our sins and offered us His righteousness in exchange. In Him, we are made perfect forever.

8. We Live and Walk By Faith
We're called to live by faith after believing in Jesus and being made righteous through His sacrifice. Paul described the Christian life: "For in the gospel, the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: ‘The righteous will live by faith’” (Romans 1:17 NIV). We believe in Jesus, follow Him by faith, and claim all His promises.
I can’t explain these seven promises, nor can anyone fully interpret them. But I believe His words with all my heart and am fully convinced they are true. Thank You, Father, for Your great love.
