1. Finding Peace in His Presence
God has promised us we will always have peace in his presence. We feel this when we pray to him and gather with other believers at Sunday service. Where God’s presence is, there is peace. There are many ways we can find peace in his presence.
- Keeping our eyes on him, no matter what’s going on.
- Defining peace and what that looks and feels like for us.
- Standing firm in God’s word.
- Listening to praise and worship music.
- Admiring his creation (trees, birds, the sky, small creatures) and giving him thanks for it.
- Surrendering control to God, who controls it all.
These are fantastic ways to get into the presence of the Lord and find peace.

2. The Assurance of His Faithfulness
God is always faithful, no matter what we are going through. Think about times when you didn’t know what to do or what would happen, but then circumstances turned around, and things were okay. That’s God being faithful and showing that he will never leave you, that he is steadfast, and he will never change.
He tells us this throughout the Bible.
“God is faithful to do this, for he is faithful to do what he says, and he has invited you into partnership with his son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:9, NLT)
“But the Lord is faithful, he will strengthen you and guard you from the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3, NLT)
“Understand, therefore, that the Lord your God is indeed God. He is the faithful God who keeps his covenant for a thousand generations and lavishes his unfailing love on those who love him and obey his commands.” (Deuteronomy 7:9, NLT)

3. Strength in Weakness
God promised to help us be strong in our weakest moments and that his love and support would always be there.
“Each time he said, my grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.” So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so Christ's power can work through me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9, NLT)
“He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.” (Isaiah 40:29, NLT)
“For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13, NLT)

4. Casting Your Cares
God wants us to cast our cares and worries on him. God does not intend for us to go it alone. He cares about everything, no matter how big or small. If it matters to us, it matters to him.
“Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares for you.” (1 Peter 5:7, NLT)
“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6-7, NLT)
“Give your burdens to the Lord, and he will take care of you. He will not permit the Godly to slip and fall.” (Psalm 55:22)

5. A Future Filled with Hope
In a world full of darkness and despair, we must remember that God promised us a future filled with hope. He has had our lives planned out since before we were born, and we know that anything he has planned for us is for our good. That thought alone should fill us with hope.
It doesn’t mean we won’t go through things to learn lessons and grow, but we should always hope for the future God has planned for us.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (Jeremiah 29:11)
“You will be rewarded for this, your hope will not be disappointed.” (Proverbs 23:18, NLT)
“I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.” (Romans 15:13, NLT)

6. God’s Timing and Our Trust
We live in a very impatient society where everyone wants things right now. Instant gratification is the name of the game, and we have all done this a few times. We want answers now. We’re human, not perfect.
I was in this situation a few years back. I was praying about something, and I wanted an answer now. How were things going to work out? Was this person going to be okay? However, God told me that his ways are not my ways and his thoughts are not mine. Trust his timing. It took six years, but I finally got my answer and found some peace.
Sometimes, in our lives, it feels like God is either absent or moving at a snail’s pace. We remember that he was working in the background, and his timing was always right.
“My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you can imagine. For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9, NLT)
“We can make our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.” (Proverbs 16:9, NLT)
“And this same God who takes care of me will supply all your needs from his glorious riches, which have been given to us in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

7. Peace that Surpasses Understanding
God has promised us peace beyond our understanding. This peace comes from God himself and is associated with his presence. When we are in his presence, we should always have peace.
“You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all those whose thoughts are fixed on you.” (Isaiah 26:3, NLT)
“I have told you all this so you may have peace in me. Here on earth, you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33, NLT)

8. Strength for Everyday
When we wake up every day, we know God is with us. We should spend our time praying, reading the Bible, and talking to him throughout the day. He will give us the strength we need to face our daily lives.
“God arms me with strength and he makes my way perfect.” (Psalm 18:32, NLT)
“Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)
“This is my command-be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9, NLT)
“So be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid and do not panic before them. For the Lord your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.” (Deuteronomy 31:6, NLT)

9. Comfort in Community
God promised us that we would always find comfort in a community. We are called to come together to worship him and to love and support each other. That’s why having Christian friends and getting involved in your church community is essential. Talking with like-minded people helps us grow relationships, figure out problems, and seek the Lord together.
“Share each other’s burdens and in this way obey the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2, NLT)
“For the more we suffer for Christ, the more God will shower us with his comfort through Christ.” (2 Corinthians 1:5, NLT)
“For where two or three are gathered as my followers, I am there with them.” (Matthew 18:20, NLT)
“Let us think of ways to motivate one another to acts of love and good works. And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.” (Hebrews 10:24-25, NLT)

10. Eternal Perspective in Temporary Trials
This refers to believers' mindset regarding earthly sufferings, eternal truths, and promises. It is essential for enduring trials with faith and hope. Fix your sights on God rather than on the chaos around you.
We serve a wonderful God who has given us many promises when life is overwhelming. Remember these promises the next time you feel things are falling apart beyond your control, trust Jesus, and look forward to brighter days ahead.
