"However when He, the Spirit of Truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth; for He shall not speak from Himself, but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak; and He will show you things to come.” – John 16:13
Truth is something our current culture struggles to recognize. Once truth felt like something we could all come to, agree upon, and, as parents, point our families towards. Now, culture tells us that truth bends and changes to fit our whims, and it’s common to swap the good and beautiful things that God created only to exchange them for useless lies. The question that many of us are left wrestling with is:
How do we find truth and guide our kids toward truth in a post-truth world?
John 16:13 promises that He, the Holy Spirit, will gently guide us towards truth. As a guide, he “points out the way.” The picture painted in the scripture is of the Spirit taking us by the hand prompting us to take one step at a time forward towards the fullness of God’s grace and beauty. The Bible teaches us that we were all dead in our sin, but by the power of the Holy Spirit, we have hope that brings us back to a path that points to eternal life and an unshakable truth through Jesus.
