Mother’s Brief Interaction with Stranger Helps Saves Infant’s Life

A mother’s brief interaction with a stranger helped save her infant’s life. One woman only shared a handful of words with a stranger, lasting a few moments, but they were lifesaving. Check out this video about a moving and powerful short conversation.

Children, especially young infants, require a lot of love, attention and care. Parents know what and how much children need from their caretakers to lead healthy and happy lives. Those youngsters can sometimes be tiring and leave Mom and Dad exhausted, but children are worth it every time.

As much as mothers and fathers pay attention to their children, they are still human. Human beings are prone to mistakes and don’t always catch everything; details can and do get missed. Moms and dads can and do miss things, even concerning their children.

A clip posted on YouTube highlights how vital small, tiny details are, especially when caring for young children. The video also makes it clear that when something seems wrong or off, it’s best to speak up and make those concerns known. In this case, someone speaking up was lifesaving.

In the clip, the mother, Sarah, and her family, including her 6-week-old son, Lincoln, were at a theme park. At one point, as Sarah was holding Lincoln, a man looked at Lincoln and noticed something didn’t look right about the youngster.

Sarah said she had noticed the man and acknowledged him as she walked by. Moments later, he approached Sarah and stated that something appeared off about Lincoln. He made Sarah and her family aware of “how very jaundiced he was.” He told her that they may want to have Lincoln examined by a doctor. The man, Sarah states, was a first responder.

Soon after Sarah’s interaction with that stranger, Lincoln was placed in a hospital, and four weeks later, it was determined that the child has Alagille syndrome. This manageable, lifelong but rare genetic condition impacts both the liver and the heart.

“It was a tough thing to go through, but because of that, you know, that one small thing that he did,” Sarah said. “Look at how much of an impact he had on Lincoln, on our family. And I just want to say, ‘Thank you.’”

Proverbs 17:6 “Children’s children are the crown of old men; and they glory of children and their fathers.”
