Reality TV star Phil Robertson shared a powerful and moving message about how Jesus Christ brings true and lasting peace.
The world is a lost, broken, and often lonely place. It’s filled with struggling and hurting people who cry out for something, anything, to provide them with even momentary relief. Sadly, people will and do search far and wide for comfort, healing, and peace.
Peace is a concept foreign to the world and, personally, to most individuals. Everywhere we look – on the news, social media, and sadly, even in many families – peace is absent. But there is one who can bring peace unlike any other, one that surpasses all understanding.
In a clip posted on social media, Phil Robertson, of Duck Dynasty fame, talks about this peace that many people do not have or even know of. It’s one that only Jesus Christ can bring about in someone’s heart and life.
“You’re never going to have peace of mind without Jesus Christ, ever,” Phil says from behind the pulpit while addressing a massive congregation. “It ain’t going to happen. Fits of rage, sexual immorality, hatred, discord, factions, envy, jealousy - you know the list of sins.”
Later in the clip, Phil talks about his life before and after he accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. He goes so far as to say that he was a “heathen” before Christ came into his heart and cleaned up his life.
“So, now I’ve been at this for 42,” Phil said. “Heathen for 28, son of God for the last 42. Trust me when I tell you, this last 42 has been way better than the first 28.”
As he indicates in his comments, Phil is an example of what 2 Corinthians mentions as being made a new creation in Christ. As that passage of Scripture points out, the old things have passed away, and everything has been made new.
Philippians 4:7 says, “And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Jesus Christ.”
